The Unknown Client explained

The "Unknown Client" and how to move a site from an unknown client in PATGuard Cloud

What is an Unknown Client?

In this article we will learn about the concept of the "Unknown Client" and its role in organizing data within PATGuard Cloud and how and why we may move data from the "Unknown Client" to parent Clients and Sites.

Why you may have an "Unknown Client" showing in your Recent Tests view in the Dashboard and the Organiser view?

This means that a Site or Location in question has simply not been assigned to a Client (either manually by you, or automatically by your PAT Tester) in this case your Site or Location will show under "Unknown Client" in the Dashboard and in the Organiser view.

This gives you time to assign the Site or Location to the correct Client or new Client at a later time.

The "Unknown Client" also applies if you manually create a Test, Asset, Location or Site and do not assign them to a Client.

How to move a Site from an Unknown Client

Open up the Unknown Client view
In the right hand pane click on the site you want to move, in this case number 1.
Select Move Sites

Start typing in the client name
and select from the drop down list
and hit Save
You can create a new Client from here as well...

Your Site has now been successfully moved to its correct Client

It is also important to set your importing strategy in PATGUARD Cloud because some testers (e.g Primetest Elite do not use Clients) so review the following article on how to set your 'Data Mapping Strategy'
